Nebraska Solar
Incentives & Rebates

Nebraska Net Metering

Net metering is the program for connecting solar panels and other renewable energy generators to the public utility, allowing customers to offset the cost of the power they draw from the utility with credits they earn on their own production. If your system produces more energy than you need, the excess electricity gets purchased by the grid, which you see on your power bill as a credit. Nebraska has these laws, smoothing the way to get a solar system connected to the public grid.

Nebraska State Rebates

They are minimal, but Nebraska does have state rebates.

Nebraska State Tax Credit

Nebraska has this too. The idea behind states offering this credit is you can lower the amount of state taxes you owe by deducting all or part of the cost of a solar system.

Last but Not Least: Federal Tax Credit

In addition to what’s above, those in Nebraska of course stand to gain by the big tax credit from the Federal government, too. The solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) amounts to 26 percent of the system cost, and will be deducted from your Federal income tax. The credit goes to the system’s owner, it’s important to note. Be sure to buy yours with cash or a loan. If you lease, on the other hand, then the incentives go to the third-party owner.
